I understand that you may think it crazy and maybe a waste of energy, but I need someone like you that is able to move around this city.

We need all the help we can get and you are very popular amongst all the traders in the city.

There's no man in town as admired as you

I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to do what I want, to live in a really great country and have a good start, and to have those possibilities.

You're like, "There are so many people of color here, " and yet I know that the city is not made up of 90 percent African Americans, so why is it that 90 percent of the people who are in orange are African American?

I thought buying a house might indelibly tie me to the city while acting as a physical protest to these walls and freeways.

My soul is always soothed by the giant live oak trees, shading lovers, drunks and dreamers for hundreds of years, and I trust a city that always makes way for music.

(Laughter) The city has some of the most beautiful architecture in the world, but it also has one of the highest amounts of abandoned properties in America.

She always felt a little bit of an outsider, although she's been there almost all her life, a woman of Russian extraction.

And so, on New Year's Eve of 2007, I went to the zoo, and I stood in front of the elephants, and I said, "This city is going on a diet, and we're going to lose a million pounds."

["The ancient 'Lion of Nimrud' went missing from this city's national museum in 2003 (along with a lot of other stuff)"] This is also why we are now able to see the first self-driving cars.

I believe, as we continue to wrap arms and continue to say, "We're in this together, " because it's not just an intersection: once we meet, we now gotta get on the same path for the same goals, and this city will become great again.

(Silence) Somewhere in the city, there's a old lady picking Styrofoam leftovers up out of a trash can and she's putting a piece of sesame chicken someone spit out into her own mouth.

We wondered: Could we use arts and culture and design to revitalize this city and other Rust Belt cities across our nation, and turn them into centers for innovation and growth?

Here we built the General Society of Authors and Editors, a cultural building.

And out of their extraordinary work rose a temple to rival the two cathedrals that exist in the town, one Catholic and one Protestant.
